Some big mistakes I’ve made as a writer:
- Believing I had to write the beginning of a novel, then the middle, then the end, in that order.
- Believing saying I was a writer, without actually writing, was worth anything.
- Believing the validation of others made me a writer.
- Believing a first draft had to be perfect; the only thing a first draft has to be is complete.
And you?
Pure words of wisdom.
Thanks–and like most wisdom, painfully earned.
Sending out my first manuscript to agents. It sucked.
Ah, our impatience…I’m defintely guilty of premature submission.
